To prepare, you will need to have your copies of the Diving Knowledge Workbook and the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving. You will also need to make competent demonstrations of each of the 20 confined water skills. This course is highly recommend for anyone who has not recently finished their Divemaster course at TSD. About the IDC Prep Course
During the IDC Prep course you get lectures on theory, take sample exams and review any questions you might have. You will also have plenty of time to practice skill circuits. On your first day in the water you will be assessed on your current skills and we will see where you need to focus. Each day you will also do some water work reviewing skills and improving any areas in which you are lacking. Waterwork will include at least 2 acclimatization dives - basically fun dives in your new environment. For those that have not been diving previously in Malapascua, you will need to get wet, perhaps try out new equipment etc. One of these dives will probably be at Monad Shoal so you can see our famous thresher sharks. The other will be at Lighthouse or Bantigi where you will do the majority of your waterwork during the IDC. You will get your copy of the PADI Instructor Manual and start getting familiar with its content. For the IDC there are 17 knowledge reviews that you need to complete in advance, so we will also make sure you are on schedule with those and we will review any problems you may be having. |
