This program builds on the IANTD Recreational Trimix and Advanced Nitrox courses. Advanced Recreational Trimix is a great introduction to diving with helium in your mix to reduce the effects of nitrogen narcosis at depth. Higher oxygen content allows longer dives, enabling safer, longer dives within the depth range. It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the Nitrox concept of diving.

Advanced Recreational Trimix qualifies divers to dive to 48 meters and perform decompression stops required dives up to 15 minutes. The Program employs Nitrox mixes from 21% oxygen to a maximum of 1.5 PO2 combined with a Helium content that maintains Equivalent Narcotic Depths (ENDs) of no more than 24 meters, i.e. the effects of nitrogen narcosis are no more than that of diving on air to 24 meters.

Prerequisites

IANTD Recreational Trimix Diver or Nitrox Diver and IANTD Deep Diver
Minimum of 30 logged dives.

Course Content

A confined water session proceeds all Open Water dives.
4 Open Water dives, 2 of which must be to depths between 30 and 48 meters.
If combined with a Deep Diver Program, course includes 6 dives. 3 dives must be made to depths between 30 and 48 meters.
All dives deeper than 24 meters are made on Recreational Trimix mixtures.
Students are taught the use of Recreational Trimix mixtures from 28% to a maximum of 40% oxygen and with the helium content having an END no greater than 24 meters for diving.
Nitrox mixtures of 1.5 PO2 oxygen should be used for safety and decompression stops.
