The IANTD Recreational Trimix course introduces Trimix Diving, using gases containing helium as well as oxygen and nitrogen. Higher helium content reduces the effects of nitrogen narcosis, and higher oxygen content allow longer dives, enabling safer, longer dives within the depth range. Equivalent Narcotic Depths (ENDs) are no more than 24 meters, i.e. the effects of nitrogen narcosis are no more than that of diving on air to 24 meters.

This program trains you to do complete no stop dives using recreational trimix to a depth of 30 meters or 39 meters for those with Deep Diver training. You will use Equivalent Narcotic Depths in the 12 - 24 meter range.

Prerequisites

Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
Nitrox Diver. This can be taken in conjunction with the Recreational Trimix Diver course.
Minimum of 15 logged dives.

Course Content

Two Open Water dives on Recreational Trimix mixtures.
Program covers all Recreational Trimix gas mixes from 28% to a maximum of 40% oxygen, and Helium concentrations yielding an END no greater than 24 meters.
Can be taken in combination with the Deep Diver course with a minimum of two dives being completed on Trimix.
This course does not require the use of twin tanks.
