Hammerhead Season is here

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Today we made our first trip of the HAMMERHEAD season out to Kimud Shoal. Not sure if they had yet arrived at Kimud, the group descended into the blue down to 40 meters. As they worked their way up, they were starting to lose hope.  All of a sudden the lone hammerhead appeared out of nowhere and sauntered past the group, checking them out.  Next along was a manta ray.  The smiles on the divers faces on their return was not to be believed.

It’s official, hammerhead season is here!!!

Christmas Party

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Last night was the TSD 4th ANNIVERSARY PARTY.  The party is our traditional annual celebration of Thresher Shark Divers and a thank you to our wonderful staff who now number around 40 people.  They were almost all in attendance along with their families.

Staff and customers alike drank and made merry, and enjoyed the traditional Filipino celebrations dish of Lechon Baboy – two whole spit roasted pigs.

After dinner, I made my traditional (yawn) speech. As usual I got teary eyed thanking all our fabulous staff. Special thanks went out to Tata and Botchoy who have been with us from the start, back in the days when there were only 4 of us.

After-dinner entertainment consisted of the local firebreathing ladyboys who can actually do the splits at the same time (ouch!), and then plenty of fun and games Filipino style with men dressing up as women and racing each other in high heels in relay, and oranges passed neck to neck etc.

It was a blast and we are already looking forward to next year’s party.
